Matt Ian serves as Co-Chief Creative Officer at Deutsch LA. With a focus on creative problem-solving, mentorship, and growth, Ian believes in building opportunities that elevates brands and talent alike. He re-joined the agency in 2022 to lead creative on various accounts including home improvement icon, Lowe’s, and fan favorite QSR brand, Taco Bell, for which he’s successfully launched multiple award-winning integrated campaigns, including Taco Bell’s ‘Metaverse Wedding’, ‘Mexican Pizza: The Musical’ and ‘Freeing Taco Tuesday’.
Previously, Ian served as Chief Creative Officer at Dentsu Creative / Mcgarrybowen where he led the Subway account (among others) and introduced “The Eat Fresh Refresh” campaign - helping the franchise reverse a decade-long sales decline. Prior to DMB, Ian worked as Execu1ve Crea1ve Director at TBWA/Chiat New York where he helped lead a streak of new business wins including, Travelers Insurance, Thompson-Reuters, NBCU, and H&M. He also spent three years as an Executive Creative Director at Droga5 where he developed several viral moments for the likes of Sprint, Quilted Northern and IHOP, where he led the restaurant’s ‘IHOb’ “rebrand,” making consumers care about burgers from a pancake house. The simplicity of the campaign earned top honors and headlines nationally.
Ian’s work has received accolades from every major industry award show, along with being discussed, cri1qued, celebrated, and occasionally ridiculed across the major press. He’s also received two Emmy nominations for work on Volkswagen during his first time at Deutsch LA, for which he is very proud.
